Plastic Pollution Awareness in Uyo: How We Celebrated World Environment Day 2025
Yesterday, June 5th, marked World Environment Day 2025, and right here in the heart of Uyo, we were proud to take bold steps toward environmental protection. In a powerful collaboration with Aret Environmental Services and XL FM, we led a grassroots campaign focused on one of the most urgent environmental issues of our time — plastic pollution.
Our mission was straightforward but impactful: educate, engage, and empower. As we took to the streets, we met with residents, business owners, and young people, sharing vital information about how plastic waste harms our environment, affects our health, and endangers the future of our planet.
But awareness alone wasn’t enough. We moved beyond words by encouraging members of the community to take practical action — collecting plastic waste from their homes and shops for proper recycling. This simple but powerful act demonstrated that everyone has a role to play in creating a cleaner and safer environment.
World Environment Day may be behind us, but the spirit of environmental responsibility lives on. This event was just one step in our long-term commitment to sustainability and environmental awareness in Uyo.
